RSL Care WA

History

Built at the cost of 190,000 (pounds), The War Veterans' Home is certainly the greatest single project achieved by the R.S.L. in Western Australia. The buildings were officially opened by the Premier (Honourable D. Brand, M.L.A.) on Saturday, 11th March 1961. During the course of his remarks on that occasion, Mr. Brand described the culmination of the League's efforts as a "job well done" and offered congratulations concerning the design, standard of building and the very adequate equipment.

The league claims with justifiable pride, that the Home is comparable with anything of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, and looks forward with confidence in its ability to maintain the exceptionally high standard already set.

The Home is sited on an area of 11 1/2 acres which was secured from the State Government in 1959 and comprises portion of the area previously known as the Scadden Pine Plantation. Its accessibility from the city is a valuable feature.
